WeChat Chat Mastery: Follow-ups and Fun Tricks

  • Table of Contents

Now that you’re familiar with using chat features let me introduce some practical ways to manage your messages and ensure you never overlook important ones:

  1. Add a star to the contacts you want to follow.
  2. Pin a message to the top.
  3. Mark messages as unread.
  4. Set a reminder for callbacks.

As a bonus, we’ll wrap up with two fun tricks to add a playful touch to your chats and a little gift from me.

Let me show you some easy ways to keep track of your messages and make sure you don’t miss any important ones:

Add a star

Add a star to keep track of a contact you want to follow.  When you check your contacts, this will place them in a special starred list. Here’s how:

Open WeChat and go to your contacts list.

Select the friend you want to follow.

Once on your friend’s profile, tap the three dots in the top right corner of your screen.

Enable the “add star” option. You’ll see a note saying “starred,” confirming your action.

Return to the contacts tab; your starred contact will appear below the “Starred” title.

Sticky On Top

You can elevate meaningful conversations by staying with them at the top of your chat list. This ensures they’re always visible. I use this option a lot.

You can stick a chat conversation on your screen by going to the contact profile and choosing sticky.

You will notice that the selected chat is now on top of your screen in your chats tab.

You can select multiple chats to stick on top, and scrolling down will begin with them.

Direct link to your home screen

This shortcut takes you straight to the conversations that matter most, saving you time and effort. This is a cool trick! Add a direct link to a WeChat chat on your mobile screen. Choose a contact, go to the three dots above, and choose “add to home screen .”Next time you have a notification in this chat, you will see it on your mobile home screen.

Mark a Chat as Unread

Just Double-click a conversation and mark it as unread. I use this method to remember to reply to someone or to complete a task.

Set a Reminder to make a callback

You can set up a callback if you had a phone call through WeChat or missed a voice call. Tap the voice message written in your chat, like “duration…” or ‘Call canceled by the caller.’ You’ll be able to return calls. You can select a date (up to one year per person) and get a reminder about it. I want to teach you two more fun tricks within the chat conversation.

Fun in Chats – Tickle and Confetti

Now that you’ve mastered adding friends and staying organized with crucial messages on WeChat let’s add excitement with two awesome tricks. Get ready for a touch of fun and an upgraded chatting experience! The first feature lets you give someone a friendly nudge in a group conversation. This action notifies the person that they’ve been playfully nudged by you, sure to capture their attention.

How to tickle

Navigate to the chats tab and select a chat conversation. Now, try double-tapping on someone’s profile picture within your ongoing chat with them. I experimented with this feature by creating a chat conversation with myself. You can do the same by accessing the chats tab, clicking on the three dots in the top right corner of your screen, selecting “New Chat,” and choosing yourself. Test it by sending a message in the chat and then double-tapping on your photo.

The person you have tickled will get a private message that you’ve been tickling him for attention. At the same time, all group members will also get a message about your action.

You can edit your tickle name when you tick someone as this option appears.

You have only a few minutes to cancel it by double-clicking on your tickle action.

The person you’re trying to amuse will only see your action if they’re in the chat. Like a real-life tickle, use it wisely – too much can make things awkward.

Want to set your Tickle name? Head to the “My” tab, select ” Tickle Name, ” then to your profile.” you could craft a humorous tickle name to add a touch of fun to your interaction.

Here’s my favorite trick! If you’ve ever wished to inject a bit of joy into your WeChat chats, here’s the secret: you can employ particular words that unleash a shower of confetti on your screen, transforming your conversations into lively experiences.

Let me walk you through the magic of confetti words and how to infuse your WeChat chats with a burst of celebration

Confetti words

Make your WeChat chats more fun with falling confetti emojis! Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Open WeChat and go to Chats.
  2. Pick a chat message.
  3. type “Happy birthday” or any of the listed words below.
  4. Watch the magic happen!

Remember,

Particular confetti words are only available on certain days like Christmas, Halloween, and Chinese New Year. There’s no need to look them up – we have a list for you in English and Chinese. If you’re chatting with a Chinese friend, you can use Chinese characters for these confetti words. Please copy and paste our example
