Mini app within WeChat
Mini programs are light apps integrated within the WeChat app, meaning they are only available in the WeChat ecosystem. They provide services such as online shopping, travel services, games, food delivery, viewing new products, watching live videos, paying with WeChat, etc.
The benefit of using mini-apps is that you do not need to download them from your application store, search for them, and download them within WeChat.
Live streaming is one of the best strategies to sell online in China. Official accounts use mini programs to contact and meet clients on those live streams.
How do you find mini-programs?
Open WeChat, go to the Discover tab, then press on Mini Programs and then on the search bar. Look for a keyword you want. Better translate your keyword to Mandarin, for example, game/ calculator. Here are two fun mini-programs:
Sleepy sound小睡眠
This mini-program is called Sleepy Sound. It has many sound effects, all for free. Every regular or strange sound you can think of is probably there. It is relaxing music, birds, fire, rain, good night songs, baby voice, writing on the chalkboard, vacation mood, and so much more! It’s easy to use even if you can not read Chinese, as each sound has a small icon next to it.
Jumping game 跳一跳 “jump a jump”
This is a straightforward game. You need to jump from one square to another by pressing on the next square and holding it according to the distance of your player from the next square. It’s such a cute game!
