As we near the end of the setup process, let’s add a brilliant touch to your WeChat experience – the shift to your computer!

Using WeChat on your computer means sending files at the speed of light. From lightning-fast file transfers to a chat interface tailored for desktop efficiency and new features that are not available for mobile users, this step opens up a world of possibilities.

So, gear up for the grand finale of this setup journey. We’re not just concluding but opening a portal to a new era of WeChat usage. Are you excited like I am? Let’s speak about how to install it and show you all the essential features you should know about:

Installing

WeChat on the computer used to be available for web use, but now it’s exclusively on Windows.

Go to the website: https://pc.weixin.qq.com/?t=win_weixin&platform=wx&lang=en.

Download it, and we will go over all the options here.

Chats features

Take charge of your chats like never before. With WeChat on your computer, you’ll experience better control and a user-friendly interface designed for the desktop.

First, go to the chat icon. You can search for any contact you have in the search bar and start chatting by pressing the contact name. The options here are similar to your mobile but have a slight difference.

You will find the scissors icon in the text bar. This is where you can take a screenshot of your computer.

A special icon you will find here is live streaming, available only in group chat. This is a very new feature that lets you broadcast live video to your group.

Next is the person icon. This is where you can manage your contacts. Pressing “manage contact” will lead you to a page to set your privacy settings and view your tags and recent group chats.

Favorites

This is where you can view all the articles, videos, and photos you liked and marked favorites. Your saved links, images, notes, files, and music are here. Bear in mind that if the file is too old and not backed up, you cannot view it. This option is excellent for finding office files very quickly.

File Management

Are you tired of waiting for files to be sent to your phone? Get ready for a speed boost! Using WeChat on your computer means sending files at the speed of light.

Clicking on the file icon will take you to a window with all the files you sent through WeChat. You can easily find a document by using the filter “type.” Then, it would help if you chose the type you are looking for. It is a document, spreadsheets, presentations, compressed files, audio, executable files, etc.

The best advantage of working with pc is that you can drag files easily to the text box and send them to your friend.

The highlight on the Web version is the next option! Look for the green icon in the chat name list with “file transfer.” You can drag here all the documents that need a follow-up or quickly send a copy to another WeChat user. That makes life much easier. If you wish to send your WeChat friends a document and the email must be fixed in China, here is the solution. You can transfer files up to 100MB. Pressing on the file icon within the text bar will open your desktop file documents to choose your file from.

Watch channels feed

WeChat has a video feed called channels. Here, you can discover all the latest trends in WeChat. Unlike the channels fed on your mobile, here, you have many categories such as knowledge, travel, food, sport, music, and so on.

Search

You need to write a keyword in this category and review the options. You will find the latest hot topics in WeChat at the top of the search. It’s straightforward to search here.

Mini programs

The s sign is the Mini-program icon, leading you to view all your light- apps, download through WeChat, and search for new ones. It can be games, office apps, education, online payment, etc. Use the filter and find an app you like.

Backup your chat history

The next option is feedback, backup, and restore. This will enable you to back up all the WeChat information to your mobile or PC. We strongly recommend taking this action if you have the necessary data you are afraid to lose.

Lock- this is so cool. If you are going on a break and wish to shut down WeChat so no one will view your personal WeChat account, you can lock it by pressing on lock and then unlock through your mobile.

Setting

You can view all the relevant account settings, such as notification, storage, managing files, and shortcuts.
